It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved Bubba, Estelle Lux. Although Parkinson’s disease and cancer robbed her of much of her physical ability, her will and courage remained as strong as ever.
Estelle’s family was the most important thing in her life, she loved her son Erik, her daughter Allison, and most especially her three granddaughters Elena, Sophie, and Riley. We spent fifty-eight great years together, living in three different states and traveling the country and the world as much as we could.
Estelle was proud of her French roots and could never have enough ice cream. She was “Teacher of the Year” in New Jersey and left a legacy of all the students she taught to read. As a Special Education teacher, she developed a reading program for all the non-readers who arrived in her classroom. Her favorite saying was, “It takes five years to make a reader, we have four, let’s get started.” We loved her so much and we will miss her forever.
Beloved wife of Peter Lux of Avon Lake, OH; devoted mother of Erik (Gila) Lux of Pittsburgh, PA and Allison (Drew) Chapin of Westlake, OH; loving grandmother of Elena Lux, Sophie Chapin and Riley Chapin; dear sister of Edward Smokler (deceased).
Graveside funeral services will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery, 27855 Aurora Rd, Solon, OH 44139, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 2 PM.
