Frances Fischer

Frances (“Fran”) Fischer, beloved mother of Michelle Fischer (Ken) Hersh and Howard (Susanne) Fischer. Cherished grandmother of Cory and Darien Hersh and Andrew and Mark Fischer. Services Monday February 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL 1985 S. Taylor Rd., Cleveland Hts. Entombment at the Mayfield Mausoleum. Family will receive friends at the residence of Mr.and Mrs. Ken Hersh, 24350 Woodside Lane, Beachwood after service until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to The American Liver Foundation (www.liverfoundation.org) or a charity of your choice.

Fran was a very accomplished woman, who never stopped her quest for learning or for helping others. She had a very successful career in the business world, culminating with her final corporate role as Director of Purchasing for Accurate Box Company, but she also never stopped learning, becoming a certified employee benefits specialist and an insurance guru. In her 60’s, she went to law school not to become a practicing lawyer but to keep her mind active, earning a Masters in Health Law at the age of 67. In Boynton Beach, Florida, until relatively recently, Fran ran her own consulting business, from which she provided advice about senior living facilities, Medicare and Medicaid. And when she turned 80, she became a FINRA arbitrator!

But for all of her accomplishments, Fran’s proudest moment in recent years may have been receiving word that the little girl she tutored in reading made the honor roll! She loved helping others, and was a beloved mom, grandmother, and friend. She lived life to the fullest, with feistiness but grace. In the words of a few of those who have texted their condolences: “she was quite a lady,” “a feisty little lady,” and “a force on this earth for sure!” 1938-2023, but forever in our hearts.
