HARVEY R. HOROWITZ, age 69, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 17, 1949 and passed away on July 3, 2018 in Avon Lake, Ohio.
Harvey was the dearly loved brother of Susan "Toody" Horowitz Kamenir Brickenden; loving uncle of Scott Kamenir and adored great-uncle of Owen and Iden Kamenir; dear brother-in-law of Paul Brickenden; loving uncle of Paula (Michael) Pearson and James E. Brickenden; cherished great-uncle of Jordan Pearson and James R. Brickenden; dearest companion of Denise Finelli; beloved son of Robert R. and Sylvia B. Horowitz (both deceased); guardian of Lucky the cat.
Harvey attended the Air Force Academy, rose to the rank of captain in the Air Force later becoming an instructor. After separating from the armed forces he became an airline pilot and taught their incoming pilots as well.
Harvey was the defender, protector and rescuer of all creatures, great and small. He was a great friend of many and developed special friendships with many of those he met in AA. Harvey was a volunteer at St. Malachi Parish and helped prepare and serve meals to the homeless there for years.
Funeral services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. Taylor Rd., Cleveland Hts. on Thursday, July 12 at 2:30 PM.
Interment will follow at Mayfield Cemetery in Cleveland Hts.
The family will receive friends THURSDAY FOLLOWING INTERMENT UNTIL 8 PM, FRIDAY FROM 2-4 AND 6-8 PM, SATURDAY FROM 5-8 PM AND SUNDAY FROM 1-4 PM at the Brickenden residence, 64 Windward Way, Chagrin Falls.

My deepest condolences to all family members and friends of Harvey. He was a Shaker Classmate and an incredibly kind individual. He will be missed by SO many!!!! I am shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.
