Herbert Jerome Amster was born to the late Arthur and Shirley Amster on March 30, 1949. He grew up in Beachwood, Ohio playing the accordion and from a very young age, started his lifelong passion and career as a Mechanical Engineer. He graduated from Indiana Tech University and was known for his fancy Mustang and racing skills and would often brag of his winning pink slips. He would go on to work for Krasny-Kaplan for several years where he would meet his lifelong partner, Nannette.
Herbert was blessed with a loving blended family. He married his life partner Nannette L. Powers on August 15, 1992 in Cleveland, OH. Herbert helped to raise two beautiful boys from his first marriage, who would go on to become wonderful fathers and husbands to their own families. He then took part in raising two gorgeous girls who were just at the start of their adult lives. All four children were raised with fond memories of weekends on the boat, financial instruction, emailed excel spreadsheet templates, and Sunday matinees with a large refillable popcorn to bring back home.
Herbert was a provider at heart. He was kind and selfless, always there to answer the phone for any advice requested from him and always planning the next way to surprise his cherished life partner, four children, and eleven grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
Herbert is survived by his life partner, Nannette; His sons Jeffrey and Kevin “Chaim” Amster (both of MD); His daughters Angelique and Gabrielle Amster; His eleven grandchildren; His sister Susan Weiser of Twinsburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
“Herbie,” all-in-all, taught everyone to take things slow and to genuinely cherish what is in front of you; that at the end of it all, not every day is promised and it’s worthwhile to take time to “smell the roses”.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bkbmc.com for the Amster family.
