A Veteran of the Korean War. Irwin was born and raised in Cleveland, OH. He graduated Cleveland Heights High School, in the class of January ‘53 and attended Kent State University. He completed the Dale Carnegie Course and became an insurance salesman with Sun Life. He later spent his career in the automobile business, both in sales and leasing.
He excelled in athletics his entire life; not only as a participant but as a spectator as well – basketball, football, baseball, bowling, and of course golf. His love of golf led to his association with Canterbury Golf Club working in the Pro Shop. You could find him on the golf course with the grounds crew pushing a mower for 3 ½ hours beginning at 6:00 am, and this was during his retirement years! In the off-season he drove disabled and elderly adults to their medical appointments.
Besides sports, you could spot him at a concert, art festival, or hiking through nature, not to mention gliding gracefully through any dance floor.
Irv Goldring was an organizer and a doer! He will be deeply missed and loved by all. Contributions may be made to The Gathering Place or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
