We were shocked and saddened by the news of sudden an tragic passing away of Professor Israel Cabasso. During my association with him of more than three years, I learned a great deal about doing original research and effectively communicate it. He always had time to encourage good science. Youxin, we pray for the peace of departed soul and God give you enough strength to bear this loss.

It is with great sadness that I learn of the death of my cousin Israel. I had the privilege of meeting him only once, some years ago on my first visit to NY. We discussed how our Cabasso family had strong scientific and artistic genes, and how fortunate we were to have been encouraged to develop these, and embraced with a spirit of endeavour, to forge ahead. Israel certainly succeeded and will be remembered with great respect. My deepest sympathies are extended to his family.

Dearest Youxin,
I feel with you and am with you in my thoughts at the tragic loss of your dear Israel. Whenever I had the privilege of meeting Israel at the home of Yael, I enjoyed his wisdom and wit. We seemed to have a special rapport between us.
I embrace you from afar with warmest regards,

Very sad to hear about the tragic news. Prof. Cabasso was not only a brilliant scientist but a great teacher ! Behind the tough exterior I have always found him to be a warm and genuine person. I was fortrunate to have had the opportunity to interact with Prof. Cabasso during my 5 years at ESF (1998-2003). Youxin - our prayers are with you during this difficult hour.

Israel had a profound effect on my scientific and life outlook. It is hard to grasp I won't share another bottle of wine with him, take from his insight, and argue politics. Michelle and I send our deepest sympathies to Youxin.

Youxin.
I am sorry for your loss. Over the years your husband and I have engaged in a mix of cooperation, competition, and even, at times, outright disagreement. On my side, and I am pretty sure on his, that has been the result of sincere respect for one another. The two of you are fortunate to have found each other and shared many good years. My wife Jeanna and I hope you get past these difficult times and cherish the memory of someone who cared so deeply for you. Please accept our deepest sympathies.
