Janet was the most wonderful teacher.  She spoke the kindest words about me at my Agnon graduation. She will be missed.

Janet was my favorite teacher in middle school at Agnon in the late 90s. I am so saddened to hear of her passing. She touched so many of our lives. My deepest condolences to the Greenberg family.

I have fond memories of Janet in middle, high school & college.  After her wedding, we lost touch as I moved out of town.  However, I was truly saddened to hear of her passing and I send my condolences to the family.

Janet had cool comforting hands and smelled of flowers.  She often placed a gentle hand on my shoulder and her calm care would sink down into my skin and her meadow fragrance would enter my nostrils and I would feel safe and understood.  With her I also felt the fervent desire to write a good paper.  I don't remember much about my first paper in sixth grade except that it had something to do with the color red.  It was verbose and heavily thought out, weighty with associations, sprawling sentences held together along small foot hills of commas.  Her edits were kind and constructive and written in a melodic cursive.  The power of her attention absolutely thrilled me.  I felt us co-conspirators in the shared goal of good writing.  Janet also encouraged me to submit a play to the Marilyn Bianchi Kids Playwriting Festival.  I won, had the fortune of watching my piece performed, and continued to write plays for the remaining years that I spent in Cleveland.  
To say that Janet was formative in my writing life would be an understatement.  In sixth grade I was none too confident in my skills or even my intelligence.  Janet believed in my abilities and welcomed my jumbled thought process.  She saw me as talented and capable and that helped me begin to see myself as possessing these qualities. I worked hard to live up to her expectations even though her kindness felt deep, not conditional in the least.  This morning I learned of Janet's passing.  I am sorry for her family and friends, all who know her and have known her. Janet was an important and irreplaceable mentor.  I am certain that I speak for many when I say that she had a loving and profound impact on my creative life.  Janet's presence in this world will be missed.

Janet was my 5th grade teacher at Pepper Pike elementary school in the Orange School District from 1972-1973.  She must have just recently graduated college.  She was one of those teachers who really made a difference in my life, and I never forgot her.  Thirty one years later, she was my son's 5th grade teacher at the Agnon School.  On the first day of class, she asked my son if his father's name was Ralph, and he said yes.   She called me at home that night, which meant so much to me.  She obviously had not forgotten me either.   I am truly sorry about your loss, but please know what an incredibly positive impact she made on so many lives, including mine.
