Jay Howard Schultz

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Jay was the beloved son of Nate and Fay Schultz. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School. He joined the family business, Selected Theaters, which exhibited and distributed motion pictures in movie theaters and drive-ins. Jay also went on to produce four motion pictures. Following the theater business, he co-founded ZBS Industries, one of the original distributors of video tapes throughout the United States.

Jay was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner. He took classes at Case Western Reserve University well into his eighties and pursued Torah study. His hobbies and passions were many. Over the years he enjoyed racquetball, golf, sculpting, and saxophone. In later life, he juggled, played piano, and began painting at the age of 90. He was known for his intelligence, curiosity, charisma, and sense of humor.

Jay was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara Diamond Schultz, who passed away in 2015 after 52 years of marriage. Loving father of Nan Schultz and Michael (Deborah) Schultz. Dear brother of Arlyn Gardner and brother in law of Patti Frank. In the years that followed, he found cherished companionship with Jane Gould Frankel, who was by his side for the last ten years of his life.

Services will be held Tuesday June 16, at 12:00 Noon

at the Mayfield Mausoleum in the Mayfield Cemetery, 2749 Mayfield Rd. Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44106. Entombment Mayfield Mausoleum

Family will receive friends at the Chelsea Apartments (Community Room) at 3330 Warrensville Center Road, Shaker Heights, following the service and entombment until 5PM, and on Wednesday from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM.
