
A US Army Vet, Jerome held strong commitment to his family and support for Israel, where he lived for several years. In his youth he fulfilled a bar mitzvah at the N'Vai Zedek Congregation on Union Avenue, where he, his parents and three brothers lived half a block away. He was a graduate of John Adams High School and attended Kent State University. Along with his father and brothers, he was the proud owner of the Union China and Enamel Company, for over 30 years. Jerome was appreciated for his strong work ethic, steadfastness, kindness to others, loyalty and willingness to help many of those who crossed his path.
A beloved son, brother and uncle, Jerome leaves behind his nephews and nieces: Stephen Mendel (Wendy), Joshua Mendel, Sandra Mendel, Valerie Knight (Adam), Stuart Mendel (Kathleen), Randy Mendel (Sarah) and Todd Mendel (Soozy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers: David Mendel, Harvey Mendel, and Leonard Mendel.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery in Solon, OH, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Israel National Fund.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel.
