I had the pleasure of working with Joel for over 20 years in the Wickliffe City School System. He was passionate about education, cared deeply for children, and was of the highest integrity. I loved his sense of humor and easy way of dealing with complex problems. He was a wonderful asset to education. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Eisen was my Vice Principal in High School and during my senior year I went through a lot. He was one of those people that helped me through that time. He joked with me and was there to confide in without judgment just a kind heart. He will be greatly missed and remembered always with fondness.

I am beyond sad that Joel has passed away. I only wish I had known him better and longer. Even so, I realized how gentle and kind he was. My heart goes out to you and your family. Keep them all close to you no matter how far away they live. Family is everything.

Dear Gail and Family,

I was so saddened to learn of the passing of my Cousin, Joel. I have such fond memories of playing at his house, especially with Debbie, when we were young. After reading all of the kind things that have been said about Joel, I hope that your heart is full of the memories that people have of him, and in knowing how many lives he touched.

Gail and Family,
My deepest sympathies on the loss of Joel. He was a favorite cousin, a wonderful guy in all ways. I remember many happy times spent in his house on Silsby when we were all growing up. His Mom, my Aunt Irene, was a wonderful Aunt to me, and I cherish the times I spent with her and with Joel.
I am so glad we all got together for lunch with cousins Lenny, Marcia and Cheryl and friend Sandi when I was in Cleveland. It will be a memory I treasure.

Joel was my education mentor. I will always be indebted to him for his guidance, long conversations, and the example he set for what a great educator should be. On this Teacher Appreciation Day/Week we have lost one of the best. He touched so many lives, lives of students, lives of parents, lives of teachers. I will miss him, but will always remember his love for learning and his love for education…. RB
