Karen Spector

Karen was the loving wife of Richard Spector, with whom she shared a life filled with fun and devotion. She is also survived by her three cherished stepdaughters and their husbands, Janet (John) Spector Bishop, Jacquie (Stuart) Gardner, and Jennifer (Chad) Tuschman, and her seven devoted step grandchildren, James, Jack, Teagan, Lucy, Ava, Tenley, and Wyatt, who loved her. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Lilly, who was a treasured part of her life as were her other nine cats she loved during her life.

Karen was the adored daughter of the late George and Rita Shapiro. She was predeceased by her brother, Sandy Shapiro.

Karen was a woman of grace, kindness, and quiet generosity. She had a deep and abiding love for animals. She was also a passionate reader who found great pleasure in books, especially mystery stories.

Karen was a humble and private philanthropist, quietly supporting causes that were close to her heart, particularly animal welfare shelters and Jewish community organizations. She never sought praise for her generosity and never talked about it; giving was simply part of who she was.

Above all, Karen was deeply loved by everyone who knew her. She brought warmth, kindness, and dignity to the lives of those around her. In the words of her husband, Richard, “She lived a life of grace filled with love.”

A private graveside service will be held at Bet Olam Cemetery on Monday, September 14 at 2:00pm.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Club House, in The Village on George Ziegler Drive in Beachwood, on Monday September 14th from 4:00–6:00 p.m.

Karen will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her generosity, her love of animals, her quiet strength, and the love she gave so freely to her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
