Beloved wife of Dr. Bennett Levine (deceased); devoted mother of Barbara (David Green) Levine of Lexington, Mass.; Janice (Brian Igoe, deceased) Levine Igoe of Boston; and Dr. Frederic (Dr. Janine Martyn) Levine of Moreland Hills; loving grandmother of Brennan and Sarah Igoe, Hannah, Bennett, Sydney and Iris Levine, Jesse Green, Theresa (Jesse) Ruggiero and Elizabeth (Huy) Huynh; dear sister of Naomi Mesch and Joseph Tracht (both deceased).
Graveside services were held at Mt. Olive Cemetery, 27855 Aurora Road, Solon at 3 p.m. June 24.
Lenore was born in Cleveland Ohio in1924 to Fanny and Harry Tracht, immigrants from Eastern Europe. Raised in a family who valued education and music, she began piano lessons at an early age. She enjoyed playing the piano throughout her life, playing duets with her husband, Dr. Bennett Levine, Cleveland hematologist and accomplished amateur violinist. She and her husband married in1950 and they had a loving marriage until his death in 1995.
She was a graduate of John Adams High School, Ohio State University, and received her master’s degree in social work from the School of Applied Social Sciences at CWRU in 1950. In her professional life she worked in various aspects of social work, ending her career working in adoptions / international adoptions at the Jewish Children’s Bureau in Beachwood. She was an avid tennis player, playing regular games well into her 80s.
