

Leonid Gurvits was born on November 30th, 1955 to his parents Sima and Alexander Gurvits in Odessa, Ukraine. As a young man, he enjoyed playing and watching soccer, following his favorite Ukrainian team, Chernomorets, and attending all of their games. He attended college for Oil and Gas Industry studies.
Leonid immigrated to Cleveland with his parents, grandmother, Rachilia Barabash, and sister, Yelena [Gofman], in 1978.
Over his lifetime he worked in several industries including electric engineering and social work, plus owned his own business. He was passionate about history and politics, and was always ready to learn and discuss current events.
Leonid was most proud of his two sons, Sherard and Alex. He spent countless hours supporting them through school and work and following sports together, especially hockey and soccer. As all of his friends would know, Leonid was a die hard Edmonton Oilers fan and enjoyed spending time entertaining friends and family in their home.
Leonid Gurvits, beloved husband of Tetiana Zakharieva; devoted and cherished father of Sherard Gurvits and Alexander Gurvits; loving brother of Yelena (Igor deceased) Gofman; wonderful uncle of Richard (Erika) and Allen (Marika); and many close cousins. Services will be held Monday August 19, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 6576 White Road Mayfield Village.
