Linda Katz (nee Moritz) passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024. Linda was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on December 17, 1944 and was adopted by Florence Friedlander Moritz (dec.) and David Moritz (dec.) two years later. She was raised by them with love and support along with her brother Robert Alan Moritz (dec.). She sang before she talked and had the voice of an angel; a very spirited angel at that. She loved participating in community theater and appeared in many stellar, memorable roles.
After being the May Queen at Canterbury elementary school, she transferred to Malvern elementary school and next became a member of the first class to graduate from Byron Junior High school.
She was a graduate of Shaker Heights High School (class of 1963) and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree in music at Briarcliff College (Briarcliff Manor, NY) (1965). She married Bob and moved with him to Boston, Massachusetts. While living in Boston she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education from Wheelock College (1967). The skills she learned there were lovingly applied to raising her two sons, Peter and Douglas. Later in life she earned her Masters of Social Science from Case Western Reserve University School of Social Sciences) (1990) and then worked for 30 years as a geriatric Social Worker at the Cleveland Heights Office on Aging.
She leaves behind Dr.Robert “Bob” Katz, her husband, partner and love of over 58 years , as well as her 2 sons Peter Moritz Katz and Douglas Andrew Katz and four grandchildren Lindsay Ruth, Drew David, Amelia Lily, and Abe Nathaniel Katz.
Retirement offered her the joy of being able to spend more time with her four growing grandchildren, as well as active participation in the Intown Club, The Social Studies Club, The Women’s Council of The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Musical Theater Project, her book club and bridge group.
She attended theater, music and dance concerts whenever possible, and loved exploring the world with Bob. She enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her many friends that she loved and tended to beyond measure.
Please note Linda would have suggested that donations be made to the charity of your choice in support of those less fortunate and to any organization involving music and theater.
