Linda Posner, a loving, thoughtful, and creative woman whose life touched family, friends, students, and her community in lasting ways, died on September 28th in Cleveland, Ohio, the city where she was born and where she spent her final days.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Linda carried a deep connection to her hometown throughout her life. She was known for her warmth, her steady presence, and her ability to make others feel welcome. Her life was shaped by devotion to family, commitment to education, and a lifelong appreciation for creativity and community.
Her family was central to her life, and she took great pride in the generations that followed her.
Linda pursued her education at Western Reserve University after attending Cleveland Heights High School. Where she built the foundation for a life marked by learning and service. She went on to become a teacher at Moreland Elementary School, teaching 5th grade in the Shaker Heights School system. A role that reflected her patience, her intelligence, and her belief in the value of helping others grow. In the classroom and beyond, she was remembered for the care she brought to her work and the respect she showed to the people around her.
Her professional life also included her ownership in The Needle Point in Mentor, Ohio. Through that business, Linda combined her love of craft and her gift for connecting with people. She brought creativity and dedication to everything she did, and her work became another expression of her personality and values. She was also a cofounder of Temple Am Shalom (Mentor), a Hebrew teacher at Fairmount Temple and Temple Am Shalom, an involvement that reflected her commitment to community and to building meaningful connections with others. She later became an administrator at Ophthalmic Physician, working alongside her husband Ronald.
Outside of work, Linda embraced the things that brought her joy. She loved knitting and needlepoint, and she found satisfaction in creating with her hands. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed entertaining, where her warmth and sense of style made gatherings memorable. She also loved the Cleveland Indians, later the Guardians, and followed the team with enthusiasm and loyalty. These interests were not just pastimes. They were part of the way she lived, with curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the people and traditions she cherished. Linda was a member of Temple Am Shalom and Congregation Mishkan Or.
