

Dr. Louis Peter Solomon, age 85, died 1/19/2025 in Beachwood, Ohio. Louis was born to Jerome H. and Mary Steiner Solomon July 1,1939 in Chicago IL. He grew up in Glencoe, IL, Beverly Hills, CA and Switzerland and attended several high schools. In the end was mostly self-taught and graduated from the University of California Los Angeles (BS, Engineering), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Masters) and then UCLA (PhD).
He specialized in Fluid Mechanics, Applied Mathematics and Electromagnetic Theory and taught at the University of Michigan for three years. He spent the remainder of his professional career in the Washington, DC region focusing on Navy related programs in the area of Anti-Submarine Warfare and National Security Education Program. In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, tinkering and sailing on beloved boats “My Way” and “The Dream Maker”.
In retirement he founded four companies Pearl River Publishing, LPS Collaborate Group, LPS Seminars, and Life Echoes. Louis was keenly interested in history and wrote several historical novels and nonfiction works. He was always ready for a vigorous discussion of politics.
Louis is survived by his second wife Leslie Marks, three children; Joanne Solomon Wilson, Susan and Jerome Solomon, three step children; Roger, Stephen and Nikki Marks, and seven grandchildren; Jessica, Emily and Joshua Wilson, Eliza and Ruby Solomon, and, Eli, Edie and Nora Marks.
He is predeceased by his parents, sister Helene Adrienne Solomon, first wife Judy Solomon and grandson Noah Marks.
