Marjorie R. Stern. Devoted daughter of the late Jerome and Martha Roth; loving mother of Lianna Gilman (Robert) of Langley, WA; dear friend of Dr. Donald Stern and Louise Gutheil of Brookline, MA; Jan and Bill Stern of Hunting Valley and Reva Lawson of Cleveland Hts. A native New Yorker, Mrs. Stern lived most of her life in Cleveland. She enjoyed several years of volunteer work, serving for 2 years as chair of the Women’s Division of the Jewish Welfare Fund and as President of the Brandeis University Women’s Committee, Cleveland Chapter. She also served as trustee of Montefiore Home and JFSA. After completing her graduate studies at CWRU she resumed her professional career. She served as executive assistant to the director of the Cleveland Sight Center and the Benjamin Rose Institute. She then joined the staff of Menorah Park as director of development. In addition to fundraising and public relations, she wrote several grant proposals seeking funding for new programs. Successfully funded, among others, were the Research Department and Day Care Center for Memory Impaired. Following a short retirement, she returned as director of development at Montefiore Home to direct and implement the $12,000,000 capital campaign to relocate the Home from Mayfield-Lee location to its present site in Beachwood. She remained on staff to direct the relocation of residents to their new building. She loved her work and often remarked that it was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of her life. NO SERVICES. NO VISITATION. If so desired, contributions to the Cleveland Sight Center or Menorah Park Center for the Aging would be appreciated.
