He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ida Pearlman; and his wife Eileen Botwick Pearlman. Melvin is survived by his five children, Susan (Brian) Stern of Cleveland Heights; Linda (David) Pickel of University Heights; Victoria and Elizabeth of Los Angeles, CA; and Charles of South Bend, IN; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Christopher) Sarma of Washington, D.C.; and Laura (Matthew) Small, of Boulder, CO; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Pearl Sarma.Mel is also survived by his adored sister Eleanor Weisman of Beachwood, and his dear companion Lynn Braff of Beachwood, who brought Mel much joy during the last few years of his life.
Born in Cleveland, Mel was a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and obtained undergraduate and law degrees from The Ohio State University, where he joined Phi Sigma Delta. He remained a loyal Buckeye throughout his life.
An attorney and businessman, Mel was an avid tennis player, a classical music enthusiast, and an incredible cook. He was a dear and lifelong friend to many. Mel was a member of Park Synagogue his entire life.
A memorial service for the family was held on July 9, and the family requests no visitation.
