

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Michael J. Hersh, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Michael departed this world peacefully on May 4, 2026, at the age of 68, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at a hospice house. His departure leaves a void that will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on August 2, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Judith and the late Zigmond, Michael grew up in a family where love, laughter, and the value of hard work were ever-present. His father, Zigmond, predeceased him, but Michael's spirit and character were undoubtedly shaped by both his parents’ nurturing and guidance.
Michael was a devoted husband to Maureen Hersh, his loving wife and partner in life. Together, they built a beautiful family, creating countless memories filled with joy and devotion. His legacy lives on through his children, Dr. Jeremy (Jackie) Hersch and Laura ( Ari) Labowitz), who carry forward his values and kindness. Michael found immense joy in his role as Papa, adoring his grandchildren Violet, Pepper, Sloan, and Dresden, each of whom brought him endless pride and happiness.
A brother to Kenneth (married to Michelle), Allan Beloved partner to Ruth and Dr. Mindy (Dr. Ian) Walters, Cherished brother-in-law to Elissa Klein. Michael's presence was a pillar in the Hersh family. His warm laughter and compassionate spirit were constant in their lives, strengthening bonds and creating precious memories
Michael's passion for his work was evident in every facet of his career. As an automotive technician, he built his own successful business, where he was known not only for his technical expertise but also for his integrity, dedication, and genuine desire to help others. His colleagues and clients alike respected and admired him, not just for his skills but for the kindness and honesty he exemplified in all his interactions.
Michael's intelligence shone brightly, but it was his warmth, caring nature, and generous spirit that truly defined him. He was a man who always extended a helping hand, offering support and compassion to those in need. His beloved dog, Bella, was his constant companion, providing him with unconditional love and companionship.
A service to honor Michael's life will be held on May 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz, located at 1985 South Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who touched so many hearts. Interment at Lake View Cemetery
