Michael S. Kaplan

have a memory or condolence to add?

March 14, 2016

I will remember him for the personality that he put into his technical writing; Michael made the cold technical world a warmer place.

Oh no. He was one of the best Access contributors around, always willing to share, without reservation. A role model for our community. My husband died at 45, I feel your loss. It just plain hurts.

Please accept my condolences for Michael's passing. I had the honor of knowing him for the past 20 years primarily through the Microsoft Access community. He was a talented developer who demanded excellence, shared his knowledge (and opinions) freely, and raised the bar for everyone. The thought of him brings a smile to my face as I see his broad smile and sparkle in his eyes. So sad to leave us so soon. RIP.

So sorry to hear about Michael's passing.

Michael was smart, funny, extremely competent and did not suffer fools gladly - all great qualities in my book.
I was lucky enough to work with him on international topics at Microsoft and enjoyed our interactions tremendously. I'll keep his laugh in my heart.

From the first time I met Michael, I began to learn what drive and compassion merged together could do. He tirelessly campaigned for what was right for all people in all languages and when MS started to weigh heavy, he just grew more resolved and more resolute. He's an inspiration I can share with my children and coworkers.

Michael's passing was a complete surprise. I had only recently reconnected with him since we knew each other in 1999, when he made me go see the movie "Notting Hill" with him six times! He could be such a goofball, but would give you the shirt off his back while coaxing you back down to earth with cool logic. A truly brilliant and unique individual willing to share his knowledge with anyone who might value it. Mr. and Mrs. Kaplan, and the entire family, I offer you my condolences, but also my thanks for giving us such a determined and hard-working individual who impacted so many lives in so many ways around the world. His absence will be felt. His memory will be cherished

You'll always be more loved and remembered than you'll ever know.
