October 15, 1963- November 20, 2025
Michael Scott Klein passed away on November 20, 2025, in Los Angeles, CA.
Born to Linda (nee Zimmerman) & John Klein in Cleveland on October 15th, 1963. All who knew Michael thought of him as a brilliant, kind, and gentle human being. In addition to being an incredible son, he was a loving brother to Joe Solo (aka Doug Klein), Debra Klein, Daniel (Pat, deceased) Klein, and Steven (Maureen) Klein and a beloved uncle to Donyae, Tammy, Jesse, Jordan, Zack and Abie and great-uncle of Harley.
Always a major lover of science, Michael started young by establishing a science club for his elementary friends in the loft of his parents’ garage and continued being a leader and innovator by starting Shaker Heights High School’s very first computer club. After growing up in Shaker Heights and graduating from Shaker Heights High School (’81), Michael pursued his passion for learning by attending Cal Tech and earning a degree in physics. While there, he had the incredible privilege to regularly travel to the Bay Area to work on the Stanford Linear Accelerator. After graduation, he spent his career establishing and advancing the efforts of multiple computer start-up companies; truly on the forefront of what we now think of as computer science.
While his love of computers, science, and learning was a big part of what made Michael, Michael, there was so much more to him. People may be surprised to know that Michael was a talented juggler and masterful on roller skates in his younger days. If asked though, Michael would probably tell you that his most treasured hobby was dancing. The years he spent involved with the swing and blues dancing community in LA were some of his happiest.
Michael was preceded in death by his Dad, Johnny Klein, his aunt, Darla Sancer-Reichley and his uncles, Joe and Spencer Klein.
A memorial service honoring Michael will be held Friday, November 28th at 2:00 pm at the Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Rd, Cleveland Heights.
