

Born October 3, 1950 to Jack and Yvonne St. Clair, Michael lived his early years as an army brat, moving almost every year until the family settled in Erie, PA for his high school years.
Michael originally planned to be a psychologist and received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University. For his Masters Degree, he chose to Attend Case Western Reserve University. While there he began to realize he had a stronger growing passion for art and architecture, so he changed direction first working at the Art Institute and then moving on to the Cleveland Museum of Art where he worked until the time of his passing.
He also had a love of films, especially old films and noir. In addition he loved live theatre, all kinds of music from Opera to Rock and Roll. He shared these passions with his wife of 34 plus years, Leslie and many dear friends. He also loved baseball and had an undying devotion to the Cleveland Indians/Guardians.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Leslie Varnick and his brother-in-law Laurence Varnick and sister-in-law Colleen Varnick as well as many dear friends and Colleagues.
A private memorial service was held Monday, November 24, 2025 in Wade Chapel at Lakeview Cemetery
Contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and The Cleveland Museum of Art
