Mr. Zwieg instilled in me a love for fly fishing at a young age. I remember fishing with Jacob and Mr. Zwieg in the front yard ponds and camp out excursions for Jacob’s birthdays. This love for fly fishing and the outdoors has transcended into my professional career and I will think of him for the rest of my life on the water.

Dear Steve, Pete, Cathy, Cathy , mom and children, 
I extend my deepest sympathy to you all for your loss.  I remember the three Zweig children  well from my life science and Biology classes at Greenview and Brush High. I am saddened by our loss of such a dear soul who was a sweet young man even as a twelve year old.  He was an asset to my classroom in the late 70’s and it was reassuring to hear at his funeral about his wonderful life and many caring  accomplishments afterward. His was a  life well lived. Dear Cathy,

I am heartbroken to hear about Mike. You know how much I adored him. 

It was such a treat to meet up with Mike in Chagrin Falls last summer when I was back visiting. He was so proud of the kids, sharing photos and all the news on what each was up to. Mike put all credit for your wonderful children firmly at your feet and what an incredible mother you are. Mike adored you and spoke so lovingly about you when we caught up. I thought it so sweet that even all these years later how you were all he talked about.

I will be thinking of you and the kids during this devastating time. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Mike was one of my favorite people.

Mike always made my jaw hurt from laughing and smiling too much!  He had more life in his pinky finger tham most of us have in our entire body and our family will miss his friendship, warmth and humor.   Sending our love  and condolences to the Zweig family. There was a time when we both had hair. When we first met when I was 15...I felt like I all of a sudden had an older brother, and always did from then on.  They broke the mold when they made Mike. 💪🏽

Mike was a ROCK and a ROCKSTAR. Always there to cheer me up and make me feel like I had a way bigger family than I grew up with. Love all you guys ❤️

We all have those people in our lives that we look up to ask kids and say, “I wanna grow up to be like that!” For me, that was Mike. 

Michael took me in at a really young age. He didn’t treat me like just another one of Olivia’s many friends… At the time, I wasn’t sure why, but he took an interest in me and always encouraged me to be myself. Later I’d realize that he just genuinely cared about the people in his kids lives… even when we were just 14! He never let me forget that there would always be a chair at the dinner table, but he also didn’t put up with any of my nonsense! He was the first to call me out and teach me how to be a better version of myself. I can’t think of a greater gift to give someone, especially a young teenager who needed that sort of guidance.

Mike was more than just a father to his four incredible children and partner to his spectacular wife; he was also a teacher, a mentor, and a friend. He taught me about the importance of family, love, and perseverance, and his legacy will continue to live on through the lives of the five people that were his entire world — Cathy, Jacob, Olivia, Alexa, and Ava. 

I ran into Michael at the salon in December right after thanksgiving. We caught up quickly, but like always, he was just so happy that his kids were all together for the holiday. He mentioned that he loves how close his kids are with their cousins. It’s clear that that’s what mattered most to him — his family. And that’s so special. I hope to one day have the family that Cathy and Michael have built. 

Not only do I want to say thank you to Michael, but also to his entire family for giving me a second home and the opportunity to meet such an incredible person. To say he will be missed is an understatement.

My dear Zweig family, I cannot begin to express how sorry I am for the loss of Michael. 

I have so many fond memories growing up at your house, Mike coming down the basement to screw around and simply make us all laugh. Seeing his smiley face walking around BCC when I was a kid hanging out with Jacob at the pool. He was one of the brightest lights. 

The deep love that Mike had for all of you was so apparent at all times. I hope we all try to live our lives more like him.

Mr. Zweig was someone who literally brightened every room he walked into and I mean that in a unique way, not the way that everyone else uses that saying. He brightened a room by making you, whoever he was talking to, feel like the most important person in the room. If he was talking to you, you were the sole focus of his attention. So after speaking to everyone in the room, he would have brightened it by lifting everyone up with him. A room full of brightened people, sparked by his energy. I would go a year without seeing Michael, but within 30 seconds of talking it felt like he had asked me about a life update just last week. I would constantly see the Zweig’s during the 2016 Cavs playoff run at the games in the court club and the last time I saw Michael he said, “I want you to come to LA with me and be an extra in Game of Thrones. With the hair and the muscles, You look amazing”. Just him, an adult in the community I respected so much, acknowledging that I was “growing up” from the young kid he remembered; I don’t know if he’ll ever know the impact he had on me, but every time I ran into him, I felt so energized after. I hope the Zweig’s can find comfort in the way people speak fondly of Michael here, as my favorite saying is “people won’t remember what you say, but they’ll remember how you made them feel”. Thank you for always making me feel important, Mr. Zweig!

I am beyond heartbroken for everyone in the Zweig family and circle of friends. Although limited, I always loved the time I got to spend with Michael. He was a one-of-a-kind, special soul.  Rest in peace and tight lines, Michael. 

Michael was a true light in this world. We will miss him dearly. Sending peace, strength and all our love to the Zweig family.
