Milta Skall Mandel, age 74, passed away peacefully on October 15th. , beloved wife of Jerry; cherished mom of Jennifer Mandel and Joel (Jimena Galvez) Mandel; Loving grandmother of Sarabeth and James Sokolsky and Daphne-Galvez-Mandel. Dear sister of Bonnie (Stuart) Cohen, Hope (Harvey, deceased) Winer, Pam (Larry) Schultz, Geoff (Fran) Skall and the late Gail Luft. Devoted daughter of the late Ruth (Cornsweet) and Herb Skall; adored aunt, great- aunt and great-great aunt; and close friend to many.
Milta lived life with a joyful and optimistic attitude. Her love of nature went from her own garden, to the local nature centers and parks to adventures across the country. She was a long distance runner and cross country skier. She enjoyed white water rafting and camping. Milta adored traveling and especially loved vacations at the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Milta cherished the Cleveland Orchestra and endured the Cleveland Indians. She was an avid reader, who retired from the Shaker Heights Public Library.
Services will be held at 11:00 am, October 18 at Berkowitz-Kumin- Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Road in Cleveland Hts. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery, 27885 Aurora road in Solon.
Shiva will be held at the home of Jerry Mandel, 16715 Brigadoon Drive, Chagrin Falls, FRIDAY FOLLOWING SERVICES UNTIL 5 PM, SUNDAY 1 PM-5 PM.
Friends who wish to may contribute to Hospice of the Western Reserve, Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of their choice. We also ask that you go visit a museum, listen to Classical music or Neil Diamond, take time to enjoy a moment in nature and read a new book.
