Miriam Gibbs

MIRIAM GIBBS (nee Winikur), age 91, died August 6, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Harvey Gibbs; devoted mother of Michael (Virginia) Gibbs of CA, Robert (Carolyn) Gibbs of PA and the late Laurie Long; loving grandmother of David and Steven Long, Jonathan (Emily) and Lindsay Gibbs, Emily, Benjamin and Julia Gibbs; dear sister of Rosalind Weisz of Columbus and Peggy Fisher (deceased). Miriam was a strong woman and an elegant lady. Throughout more than 60 years of marriage, Miriam and Harvey enjoyed ballroom dancing, collecting antiques, and decorating their home. Miriam was proud of her husband and supported him in his work. A graduate of Ohio University, Miriam had a life-long interest in nutrition and healthy eating. Stylish as well, Miriam’s fashion sense was on display when she modeled clothes for Peggy Fisher Dress Shops. She liked to play Mah-Jong and enjoyed tennis and league bowling. Miriam was a breast cancer survivor and battled signs of aging and infirmity. No canes or walkers for her, she soldiered on and stayed active. Services for Miriam will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS. on Tuesday, August 11 at 1 PM. Cantor Kathryn Wolfe-Sebo will officiate. Interment will take place at Mayfield Cemetery through Tifereth Israel-The Temple.
