I remember Professor Shanker patiently teaching me commercial transactions and bankruptcy law, two highly complex and easily confusing areas of the law, which he made interesting and understandable because he understood them so well.  But more than that he was not condescending or harsh as so many other professors in law school found it necessary or convenient to be.  He had a genuinely kind heart and an obvious love of teaching.   Because of him one of the primary areas of my practice became commercial transactions, and debtor creditor law.  He taught with a smile, as if he was sharing an inside joke, and I will always remember him fondly.  Please accept my sincere condolences, and know that he still lives in the students he taught for so many years.  

Jaymie, I’m so sorry to learn of the passing of your father, Morris. And also, of your sister, Chari, as well as your mother, Brondy. I recall your parents as lovely, and loving  people. 
Last week, while watching the debate, I recalled visiting Shaker Heights in 1967. Your father took Chari and I on a tour of the campus at Case Western Reserve.  I stepped back in time to recall memories of Chari, and your family, the summer of 1964, in NYC. I looked up Chari on social media, only to realize she had passed away😢.  Your family was our NYC apartment neighbor, in Hayden Hall. Chari and I formed what was probably an unlikely friendship, as were from different backgrounds (me being a kid of the Arkansas south). Our commonality was that our dad’s were both lawyers, and I think both our moms were happy we spent time out of their hair😊
