

MORTON SEYMOUR NEGIN, age 85, died October 9, 2014. Beloved husband of Donna Mae Negin (deceased); devoted father of Adrienne (Ed) Higginbotham, Jay (Carol) Negin, Mark Negin and Mindy Lou (Dane, deceased) Paresi; loving grandfather of Daniel (Kristan) Hausman, Michelle (David Moran) Teel, Santina Paresi, Alexandra Vandenbroek, Tiffany (Tim) Mekeel, Heather Francis, Tonya Thomas and Robert Falke; loving great grandfather of Noah, Hannah, Isaac, Hunter, Noah, Luke and Paige. Services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS., Monday, October 13 at 11 AM. Forest City Masonic Lodge services at 10:45 AM. Entombment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the Higginbotham residence, 8772 Georgie Ct., Mentor, MONDAY FOLLOWING SERVICES UNTIL 8 PM, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY FROM 2 TO 5 AND 7 TO 9 PM ONLY. Contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Hospital (www.stjude.org) or to the Children's Dyslexia Centers (childrensdyslexiacenters.org ). Mort, as he was known to his friends, was very active in the Masonic order as a member of Forest City Lodge for over 62 years. During his years as a Mason, he served as Master in 1967, as chaplain for many years, in addition to being secretary for over 25 years. Additionally, he was Grand District Deputy for 3 years and financial chairman for seven Grand Masters spanning 1962 - 2011. Mort was a member of the Board of Trustees of The Valley of Cleveland Scottish Rite from 2002 until his death. He was appointed to, and became a 33rd in 1999. In the Grand Lodge of Ohio he was Chairman of the Grand Lodge Grievance Committee and was Trial Commissioner - in - Chief from 1999 - 2011. He received the Honorary Legion of Honor from the De Moley in 2006. In addition to Mort’s distinctive accomplishments within the Masonic order, he was an attorney at law practicing for over 50 years. He and his wife regularly volunteered in the community including running the Memorial Junior High School concessions for 3 years resulting in receipt of the Golden Rule Award from JC Penny’s. As a hobby, Mort was a member of the Stein’s Collectors acquiring hundreds of German Beer Steins and attending a Stein convention in Mettlach, Germany. Mort spent a lifetime making positive contributions to society, friends, and family forever touching the lives of those he loved.
