He was the loving father of Michael (Cherie) Charna and Lynne (Stephen) Fein. Cherished Poppy of Lindsey (Jonathan) Schultz, Jennifer, Bradley (Mayra) Charna, Scotty, and Matthew (Ali) Fein. Adoring Poppy of Dakota and Esme Schultz and Pierce Fein. Beloved son of the late Jack and Lillian (née Snyder) Charna, and dear brother of the late Eugene. Myron was also a devoted uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Myron proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Soon after graduating from John Adams High School, Myron met the love of his life, Evie. They married, settled in South Euclid, and raised their two children together. During those years, Myron embarked on what would become an exceptionally successful professional career. Most notably, he served as President of both Prestige Management Co. in Northfield, Ohio, and Northfield Park Harness for well over 25 years.
His impact on Northfield Park continues to be remembered through the annual President's Pace, a race held in his honor that stands as a lasting tribute to his leadership and legacy.
Myron's work ethic was second to none. Known for being tough-minded and occasionally rough around the edges, he nevertheless took pride in being fair and was always willing to listen. His employees respected him, and those who knew him well discovered the soft heart beneath his sometimes-gruff exterior, along with his wonderfully dry sense of humor.
A man who always needed a sense of purpose, Myron finally, if not somewhat begrudgingly, retired at the age of 82. He then enjoyed his golden years alongside his soulmate, Evie, until her passing in 2016. Their enduring love and 64 years together remained a cherished part of his life. The last ten years of Myron's life were dominated by his doting over his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a unique and special relationship with each of his children across the four generations.
Myron leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, loyalty, and love for his family. He will be remembered for his accomplishments, his unmistakable personality, his wit, and the lasting impression he made on the many people whose lives he touched.
