Paula Nisenson, a devoted jazz fan introduced to the music by her late husband, Walter, a DJ in the local jazz scene, passed away in Florida earlier this week. Known for her warmth and humor, Paula was beloved by all who knew her.
For more than 30 years, Paula worked at Ohio Savings Bank, serving clients throughout Northeast Ohio. She attended Cleveland Heights High School and The Ohio State University and was an active member of the Cleveland Canasta Club.
Her son, Bob, remembers her as the ideal “soccer mom”—always there to cheer him on and a “mom” to many of his friends.
Paula’s love for her family was fierce and unwavering. She will be dearly missed by her son, Robert (Kim) Nisenson; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Samantha Nisenson, and Abigayle and Aishlinn Embeyer; great-grandchildren Aurora Frey, Beau Nolz, and Lee Landis; and caregivers Caleb and Gwen. She was also “Aunt Paula” to many members of her extended family. Paula was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, 27855 Aurora Road, Solon.
Shiva will be observed on Sunday only at the Greenberg home, 25465 Bryden Road, Beachwood, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Paula’s memory to the Monarch Center for Autism (www.monarchcenterforautism.org) or the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland (www.asgc.org).
