Dearest Jerry and family, Sid and I were so saddened by the passing of your dear Phyllis.  I had the pleasure of working at the JCC many years ago with her.  Ironically, Phyllis ended up with my son in her classroom.  Phyllis had a smile that would light up the dreariest of days.  Her love of children and kind ways made all children feel so welcome in her classroom.  While we missed her in our school community when she moved on to the East Cleveland schools, we were so happy that she would bring her enthusiasm and love of children to a school district that would most assuredly appreciate her compassion, expertise and knowledge in the area of childhood education.  Years later Phyllis organized a reunion of those still at the JCC.  It was just like her to have a houseful of teachers learning of their journeys throughout the years and catching up with friends.  She will be missed by so many.  Phyllis brought joy and laughter to everyone she met.  That is a gift that remains with all of us.

I had the privilege of working with Phyllis in the Reading First program in East Cleveland.  She was a kind. compassionate and talented teacher.  Those children who were lucky enough to have her for a teacher got a great start in their education.  She was a blessing to all the lives she touched. May you find comfort in knowing that she will be remembered fondly by many.

I met Phyllis when I was 17 and my brother,Alan(of blessed memory) and I had a trip to Cleveland to meet the family.  We hit it off right away.  In later years, Phyllis's mother, Helen traveled to Phoenix and stayed with my mother, Esther.  Those girls had so much fun together. it was a joy to see.  Phyllis and I had a lovely email correspondence for many years, but not so much lately.
This notice was a shock for me, and whatever happened, I pray she is at peace, with her beloved parents and others who were waiting to greet and welcome her for her next great adventure.  We are but stardust and she was certainly one of the stars.  My love and condolences, Jeanne


Dear Jerry and family,
Your special wife and mother, sister and aunt,  always radiated warmth and caring to those fortunate enough to have known her. We met at the pool years ago, and our group became fast friends. Phyllis always had a warm smile and a kind word  for everyone she encountered.
Phyllis will be deeply missed and remembered with much love.

Phyllis was my colleague whom I taught with at Prospect School for many years. We car pooled together numerous times. In retirement we both enjoyed having lunch with our co-workers.  We shared stories  of teaching and how much we loved the students. I remember on Wednesdays how she said it was always date night with her husband Jerry and she had to get home. This motivated me and my husband to have date nights, but ours was when ever my husband wanted one. I will miss my friend, but will be forever thankful for all the memories. Rest in heaven.

My sincerest sympathy to the family. Phyllis was a great educator and friend. I loved what she did to arrange for children of Prospect Elementary to attend the JCC fitness center and learn how to keep fit and have fun. I loved her smile and our conversations.  Praying for the family.

Phyllis (Mrs Lox) was my neighborhood mom. I have many fond memories growing up with Jeff and the Lox family on Northcliffe.  What a gift to know Phyllis was always available as a "surrogate mom" if we needed anything. My heart goes out to Jerry, Jeff, Josh and Jamie and all of your family. I am so sad to hear of the passing of my friend and colleague Phyllis Lox.  I enjoyed our conversations and collaborations during our teaching days at Prospect School in East Cleveland.  Eating lunch together we would share stories about family and our daily experiences in the classroom.  Phyllis was a devoted teacher and enriched the lives of many young children.  My deepest condolences to the Lox family and prayers for peace and comfort.
