Phyllis Wapnick (née Herskovitz), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 22, 1933, to Carl and Margaret Herskovitz, Phyllis devoted her life to family, education, and the arts. She was a cherished preschool teacher at the Hanna Perkins School, where her warmth and patience touched countless young lives. Phyllis found joy in spending time with her family and friends and shared a lifelong love of movies, theater, and the arts.
Phyllis and her devoted husband, Allen Wapnick, celebrated 72 wonderful years of marriage—a true testament to enduring love and partnership. She was the proud mother of Eric Wapnick (Pamela), Marla Schwartz (Mark), and Renee Krivine (Jonathan); and the adoring grandmother of Louis, Zachary, Samantha, and Sarena. She is also survived by her brother Sanford Herskovitz (Frances), as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery, Solon, Ohio.
Shiva will be observed at the home of Allen Wapnick:
Monday: 2:30–7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Friday: 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Sunday: 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
