Rhoda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was always at the center of her life, and she loved them deeply. She will be dearly missed by her son, Scott (Carolyn) Simon; she was a proud grandmother of four and the loving “Bubbe Rhoda” to four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Rhoda was predeceased by her husband, Harold, affectionately known as Buddy; her brother, Irving Hollander; and her sister, Beatrice Kay Wyse.
Rhoda had a vivacious personality and a presence that was hard to miss. Always beautifully put together, she spoke her mind and was never afraid to let you know exactly what she thought. She enjoyed a good martini, good company, and being surrounded by the people she loved. Her strong personality, sense of style, and unmistakable spirit made her truly one of a kind.
Active throughout her life, Rhoda worked at Sun Newspapers for 40 years and did not retire until the age of 83. She enjoyed tennis, skiing, swimming, and regular poker games. She approached life with energy and determination and remained fiercely independent for many years.
