I was shocked to learn of Robert Goldberg's untimely passing, which I discovered by accident (there are no accidents, of course). I live in Israel since 1984, and was a student of Bob's while coming up through my BA in psychology. He was a brilliant mentor, one of the few truly psychoanalytically oriented instructors at C.W.R.U. at the time (aside from Donald K. Freedheim) and a great artist/scientist with the Rorschach. I have since moved on to becoming a professor of clinical psychology -- but I was invited to give a small lecture in Cleveland to a study-group of psychoanalytic mental health workers, and was pleasantly to surprised to find Bob in attendance. We recognized each other instantly -- some 30 years had passed! -- and picked up from where we had left off. May his memory be a blessing to all of his family.

Bob’s passing was a shock to me as we had dinner and attended a Cavs game last month ( as we had done for the past 25 yrs. on an annual basis). Bob was upbeat as he recounted his work plans. I always enjoyed my time with Bob - he was bright, engaging, and witty, and we shared similar world and political views. My deepest condolences to Cindy and the family. I share in your loss.
