Sandy attended East Tech High School, served in the U.S. army during World War II, and attended Fenn college on the GI Bill where he earned a degree in business. He worked in purchasing, inventory control and supply chain management for nearly 50 years at several large manufacturing companies.
Beyond his professional achievements, Sandy had many personal passions. As a young man, he earned a private pilot's license. His hobbies also included listening to classical Broadway show tunes of the 30s and 40s at full volume on his specially designed stereo system, film photography, and cars. Just weeks ago, he took a dealer test drive in a self-driving Tesla automobile and came home advocating for driverless cars for the elderly. With his wife, Elaine, he enjoyed traveling around the world, hiking with the Cleveland Hiking Club, and ballroom dancing.
Sandy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elaine, his children Michael (Laura) Jaffe and Faith (Steven) Rabin, grandchildren Brandon (Max), Alan (Isabel) and Joel, and great-grandson Zev. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Barbara.
