Sara Levine Gelender

SARA GELENDER (nee Levine) age 89, born October 26, 1927 and died November 23, 2016. Sara Gelender worked at CVS (formerly Fairmount Circle Drug) for the last 20 years. She did the bookkeeping for the family's businesses which were Rose Nursing Home and Gelender's Market. She most recently enjoyed swimming at Notre Dame College several times a week. She was a lifelong Mahjong player. Sara was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues over the years. She looked forward to having her family over for dinner on Sunday nights. She was past president of B'nai B'rith and was involved in the Forest City Hebrew Benevolent Society and Jewish Women's International. Beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Gelender for almost 70 years; devoted mother of Mark Karen) Gelender of Castro Valley, CA, Jeffrey Gelender, Cantor Gary Gelender and Lori Wahba; loving grandmother of Shayna, Jake and Amanda Gelender, Beth and Marissa Gelender and Candace Wahba; dear sister of Harvey and Sam “Sanford” Levine (both deceased). Services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS. on Friday, November 25 at 1:30 PM. Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery (Forest City Hebrew section). The family will receive friends SATURDAY EVENING ONLY FROM 6 - 8 PM at the residence, 2099 Wrenford Rd., S. Euclid. Contributions are suggested to charity of choice.
