Shirley J. Berg, age 91, one of Cleveland’s most gentle and caring souls, peacefully passed away earlier this week. A selfless individual who always put her family and friends first, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Shirley cherished her roles as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Despite facing physical challenges later in life, she found joy in going shopping and on field trips with her daughters, staying close to those she loved. She was the heart of her circle of friends, often organizing and planning gatherings for Mah Jongg, dinners and celebrations.
She is survived by her children: Sharon (David) Weinberger, Randi (Tom) George, Jeff Berg (Amy Simon), and Lori (Larry) Weisman. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Joseph Weinberger, Emily (Justin) Houghton, Stefanie (Matt) Slain, Amanda (Aaron) Schechter, Joshua Berg, and Brandon and Brianna Weisman. Her great-grandchildren—Olivia, Madison, Brayden Slain, Preslie Berg, Hudson and Ryleigh Schechter—held a special place in her heart. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (z”l) of 54 years.
In her early years, she worked at Ohio Bell. She then went on to raise her 4 children and went to work at Merit Brass for 28 years as an Office Manager and enjoyed working and helping people.
