Born on May 10, 1924 in Cleveland to Albert and Theresa Singer. Shirley and her loving late husband Ray Leventhal shared 65 years of marriage. Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. Shirley was the devoted mother of Ilene Shaw, Eric Shaw, Ken Leventhal, and Diane Leventhal (Greg Anderson); the loving grandmother to Valerie Stern, the late Brian Shaw, Julie Shaw, Jason Shaw and Rachel Melvald; the proud great-grandmother to Paige Safenovitz, Brady Safenovitz, Ashleigh Stern, and Samantha Stern; sister of the late Ruth and Henry Lee and the late Paul Singer; close companion with her loving caretakers who were so very special to her.
Family was most important and treasured to Shirley; her other interests included being a member of Anshe Chesed Fairmont Temple and Beechmont Country Club, an active volunteer at Designer Dress Days, Mt. Sinai Hospital gift shop, and True Sisters. She was an avid world traveler, master bridge player and golfer.
