...holding back the tears! I just learned of Steve's passing from another secretary.  I worked at McDonald, Hopkins with Steve for almost 10 years.  He was one of the over 100 attorneys that would actually stop and talk with NON attorneys.  He treated EVERYONE equally and always had a smile to share if you didn't have one.  He was one with integrity and will truly be missed.  My deepest condolences to the family.  RIH Steve!

I moved in across the street a year and a half ago and really only spoke to Steve a few times...  During those exchanges, however, I could tell he was a kind, caring, genuinely nice person who cherished his family. My sincere sympathy is with you all.

Lynn,  I spoke to Steve just last week.  This news came as a terrible shock.  (You may remember me from our trip to London a decade or so ago.)  My prayers are with you and your family.

I have not met Steve's family but I can only imagine how difficult this must be for all of you.  Steve was a mentor to me in my early practice and then later when we sat on committees for the Bar Association, we learned from each other.  He was a special man and I shall miss him.

   It's been many, many years since Steve and I were in touch, but I'd think of him often, remembering so many terrific times (like our cross-country trip after high school), and I still considered him a good friend. I'll miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Steve Gardner was one of the most high character people I've ever known. I'll forever remember him for his warmth and enormous intellect. He truly was a beautiful person.

Dear Lynn and family:  I was shocked and devastated to learn the sad news this weekend. Looking back on more than 55 years when we first met, Steve was so much a part of my life and such a loyal friend while growing up in Cleveland; then during graduate school at Ohio State (and law school for Steve) where both Steve and Lynn were benchmarks of stability during a chaotic period in my life. Over the last few decades, even though we did not visit often enough, it was remarkable how we could talk only occasionally, and the conversation flowed as though we just talked last month.  Steve's friendship has always meant a great deal to me, and I will miss him dearly.

Steve was truly a man of virtue. He was a steadying influence and a rock in my life. He never looked for credit for the help he gave to others. I don't think he even realized how important he was in the lives of his family and friends. We met in high school but became fast friends at OSU. From then on he was quietly there for me as well as anyone in need. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather. My closest friend, my go to guy. I will miss him every day of my life.

Lynn and Family.   Steve was my oldest childhood friend.   I have known him  since the 4th grade.  We went to Ohio State together.  We shared many,many life experiences over the years.  

Words can't express how deeply sad and sorry I am.   In this terrible moment, we need to remember what a great and fun loving guy he was.  I will miss him....
