So, so sorry to hear about Steve's death, as are all of the other Great Peace Marchers.  I will always think of Steve, working so hard in the kitchen, making it happen, fueling our way across the country.  My thoughts are with you in this terribly difficult time, Jessica Tracy

I just learned of Steve's death through the Western College Alum Bulletin. I am so sorry to hear the world lost this good man too young. My condolences to Steve's family. I have good memories of Steve from college; he was principled and kind and thoughtful. He affected my life in important ways in my short time in his company. Prayers for your journey, Steve.

Rebecca and Marcy, I don't know exactly what you are going through, but I can imagine your grief is great. I lost my younger brother a year earlier in August 2014. And with the news of Steven's passing, I feel as though I have lost another brother. Peace and blessings to the Kanners and Whitakers.

We only just learned of this now. We're so very sorry to hear of the loss of a kind, fun, wonderful person.

I am sorry to hear of Steven's passing. I have many fond memories of our time together at Western, in Columbus, and also visits with the Kanner family in Cleveland including the Xmas Eve Chinese birthday dinner with Steven's mom ordering for everyone. 

Karly and Mira, although we've only met once (at a Western reunion) I could tell from the short time we spent together that you were the best part of Steven's life, a warm wonderful family who enriched each other's lives.

My heart is weighed down by this news of Steven Kanner's death.

May God's Peace find and surround the Kanner and Whitaker family during these coming days and years.  We came to know Steven K. and Rebecca K. from their work in anti-nuclear and peace work, which included the 1987 Great Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament and the 1988-1989 Ohio Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament. 
We knew of Steven's election to Iowa City Council and his many progressive stands throughout that time. I am glad to hear he met Karly W.-K. and had a loving relationship, and was blessed with Mari W.-K. and for others whom he joined in community in Cleveland.  
Please keep us informed if there is anything needed from the family in the coming period, and know that we will keep working on the concerns that he and Rebecca K. embraced for all these years.  

I am sure that loving spirit lives on strongly in his family, who share in this loss.

Kanner Family, I work in the Levin College and had numerous opportunities to interact with Steven.  He was such a friendly guy and enjoyed interacting with  people.  Steven will be missed.  May you know now and in the days to come that the God of all comfort understands grief. He will never leave nor forsake your family because He is such a faithful God.

I got to know Steven as Cleveland State classmates. His personality and enthusiasm contributed greatly to my experience. Wishing peace to his family and friends.

Steve was definitely a passionate person and I could tell from my short time with him in the Summer Internship Program with the Cleveland Foundation. May God provide comfort to his family during this difficult.
