Steve was a dear friend and mentor to so many. My heart goes out to the family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to the family. I got to know Steve through the VGFOA. He always enjoyed what he was doing. We would talk about our children, well Steve's children and my grandchildren since they were about same ages. I looked forward to seeing Steve at the annual meetings of VGFOA. I will miss him.

William and Martha Skinker

Sorry to hear such a wonderful person is no longer seasoning the earth with his presents. I only spent just a little time with Steve but the little time I was able to work under him he made you feel apart of his department. Very warm and caring person Mr. Solomon will solely be missed may you rest in peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Steven after he became the Director of Finance for Prince William County and discovered that he was also part of the OT family. As my mother would say, Steven was a "mensch" -- something that she wanted all of her children to be. Steven was always helpful to me as the volunteer fire companies transitioned into the County's financial system.

So sorry to learn of Steve's passing. Steve was so full of life and joy. Prayers and sympathy for the family.

My boyfriend Steve and I are so saddened by the sudden loss of such a wonderful cousin, father, husband, brother, son and -- to all -- an amazing friend. We so wish we could have been at the service and the shiva this week, not only to pay our respects to Cousin Steve's memory, but to support family and friends as they remember how Cousin Steve was just a positive influence on their lives.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a beautiful person. Steve was a great mentor of mine and will always have a special place in my memories. I worked with him on various items through GFOA, and know that the industry will now have a deep hole in it, that Steve filled so perfectly. May peace be with you during this difficult time.

All of us in the government finance world, especially in Virginia, are deeply saddened by this loss. Our prayers are with the family.

Sorry for your loss, may god bless you and your family at this time.

So incredibly saddened by the loss of a very dear dear friend. I worked with Steve at KPMG and credit him for my vast knowledge of governmental accounting. I will miss his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He will always be one of my dearest friends. May he rest in eternal peace.

Both Krista and I were deeply saddened to learn of Steve's passing. He was truly a gentle soul.

Thank you for the sweet memories we had with you , and the remarkable person we got to know in you .. May God hold you dear and bring peace to your beautiful family.

Please accept my sincerest sympathy in your loss. Worked with Steve in Prince William County. He was a wonderful Colleague.

I'm so saddened to learn about Steve's passing. I was fortunate enough to meet and work with Steve through our committees at GFOA. What I'll remember most is Steve's kindness. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I love and miss you, Dad.

All my love,
RJ

I am very saddened to hear of Steve's passing. He was a knowledgeable, supportive friend and colleague throughout my career in government finance. He will be greatly missed.

So sorry to hear about Steve's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this extremely difficult time.

I am sorry to learn of Steve's passing, I have enjoyed working with him over the years on the GFOA committee. He will be missed.

Dear Mary Jane,

Words can't express my sadness to hear of Steve's passing. You and I met at least once at VGFOA. I was a fellow Miamian and Steve and I got reacquainted when I came to the Town of Vienna in 1999. He was such a bright light - smart and kind. The best kind of colleague to have. We spent several years urging the hospitality suite at VGFOA conferences to turn on the Indians playoff games, as they interfered with the conferences. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughters.
Sincerely,

Marion Serfass

The governmental accounting world will certainly miss Steve and the tremendous contributions he made to our profession. Prayers go out to Steve's family at this very sad time.

My deepest condolences to Steve's family. I do remember him; was a year behind him at Millikin, Monticello and Heights.

I am extremely saddened to hear the news of Steve's passing. He was such a kind and generous person and spent much of his life helping others.

My last conversation with Steve was at Adam's Bar Mitzvah. He was genuinely enthused about his new job and recent move to Chicago. Steve was in a good place and, though there is little comfort in this darkest of times, at least we know he was happy.

Evan Metz and family (Bath, England)

I am terribly sad to learn of Steven's death. Steven was a wonderful colleague whom I had the great fortune of meeting through the Government Finance Officers Association. He also became a true friend, reaching out and offering support to me through my own husband's terminal illness and after his passing two years ago. I know all too personally what a great loss his death is for his family, and the world seems more than a little darker for his absence.

I am saddened to hear of Steve's passing. I personally will miss him at our upcoming CAAFR meeting. May his soul rest in peace. I''ll keep his family in prayers.

Mary and I were long time colleagues and great friends of Steve. He was one of those remarkable people one rarely ( if ever) meets. he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Steve's passing away saddens my heart. He was an amazing man and made me feel so comfortable coming into the National arena with GFOA. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I had the privilege of working with Steve over the past 5 plus years through the GFOA. He was a safety net that I came to rely on to ensure Committee projects got done and to keep me sane and calm when items occasionally appeared overwhelming. I will miss his jovial nature and smile.

Mary Jane, Milton and I are so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. We shared a meal and laughter with you and Steve just a few weeks ago, and it's hard to take in how quickly life has changed for you since then. Please know that you and your family have our deepest condolences and are in our prayers.

Steve was an amazing man. I'm his cousin and I just wanted to say that he was admired by everyone that he met. Most of my memories are from when we were young but upon recently seeing him in June...It made me remember how special he really was. May his life be for a blessing. Rest in eternal peace. Love you

My deepest sympathies are extended to the family of Steve Solomon. Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear of his passing. As a former colleague during his time with Prince William County and as a professional acquaintance through many years of attending VGFOA and GFOA events, the two things that always stood out to me about Steve was his devotion to his family and his dedication to public service. He spoke so highly of his wife, children and parents and the pride and love he had for them was always crystal clear. He was also very committed to local government and was particularly passionate about government reporting standards. I am glad that he was able to pursue his dream of working directly with GFOA to further their mission in the state and local government arena. I remember how excited he was when he told me about the opportunity and am sorry that it had to end this soon. My prayers are extended for the healing of the Solomon family during this difficult time and may the warmth and caring of your friends and family give you comfort. Rest in peace Steve, you will be missed by many.

I was lucky enough to meet Steve 4 years ago while he was at Prince William County. He was such a kind, warm-hearted and intelligent person. He will be dearly missed within both his personal and professional community.

I am sadden by the news of Steve passing away. He would walk pass my desk every morning to get to his office. He was always so upbeat and cheerful so very early in the morning. He would address us all by name and wish us a good morning. He is greatly missed. Condolences from my family to yours.

I worked with Steve at the Fairfax County Dept of Housing. He was a wonderful boss and friend to me. He was a smart man with a great sense of humor, but most of all, he was a kind and caring man. My love and prayers to the extended Solomon family.

Dear Mary Jane and family,
I have had the great pleasure of working with and knowing Steve for a number of years. He was kind, knowledgeable, professional, and caring. I remember vividly how he would call me to have lunch so that we could talk about work, life, family, Vernors, and Cleveland sports. May Our Lord bless his soul and grant him eternal peace and may He bring comfort to all of you who are filled with such grief at his passing.
Tom McQuillan, Chief Information Officer, Prince William County

Cannot fully express in words how sad we are to hear of Steve's passing. He was always ready with a big hug for us when we saw him in synagogue and always so pleasant to us and our daughter Elyse, Anna's friend from childhood. Our thoughts are with you all. . .
Michele & Stuart Endick, Burke, Virginia

Steve was a wonderful kind friend when we worked together in Prince William County. He was committed to his important work as Finance Director, yet his devotion to his family was always evident. Every Jewish holiday he would stop by my office in Human Resources & surprise me with a gift or something delicious to eat.
My deepest condolences to all who loved him.

I am very sorry for your loss, very sad news to hear of Steve passing away. He was a great friend and classmate going all the way back to Kindergarten at Severance Milliken Elementary school and through high school. I remember him as a mensch, a good soul, and more than anything else, being kind. May his memory be a blessing and give you strength during this sad time.

Vickie (Diamond) Marc and Stuart Smith/Olney , MD

I am so sorry to hear about Steve's passing. He was a wonderful man. Always kind and happy, always willing to help others. He made a big difference in Prince William and is responsible for financing much of the amenities which make the community a better place to live, especially the many schools built under his watch. He will be missed in public service but his legacy will remain.

I am saddened by the loss of Steve. He was a good man, wise like his namesake and respected by all who came to know him. He will be truly missed.

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beloved friend Steve. His genuine kindness and memories of gathering with him and his family especially around the holidays and visits to Dayton will remain with us.
Prayers of comfort and peace to my dear best friend MJ, Anna and John, and Rachel; Shel and Sherry; Jeff and Rachael as well as other friends and family
