

Surrounded by family at his home in Everett, WA, Stuart Rivchun, 71, passed away from cancer on July 3, 2026. Born in 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio to Frederick and Muriel Rivchun, he was the youngest sibling with sisters Carol and Constance. Stuart leaves the love of his life, wife Victoria Mason; sister Carol Rivchun (Marlene); his cherished children Alison Rivchun Crane (Wesley), Ruby Topping, Max McGillivray, Audrey Serna (Joaquin), Emily Hidalgo (Sergio), Joe Serna, Dorian Serna and Rose Smith (Seth); and beloved grandchildren Julia and Thomas Crane, Nannette Serna Hidalgo, Alanna Serna, June Serna, Mia Hidalgo, Brody Newman, Bailey Newman, Sergio Hidalgo, Jr., Jamison Youngblood, and Buckley Smith; as well as many friends and family.
Stuart grew up helping in his family’s business, Charles S. Rivchun & Sons Jewelers, as well as acting, singing and dancing in shows at Cain Park and the Heights Youth Theater. He played the title role of Tom Sawyer in a local television production. He played many musical instruments, including saxophone, bass guitar, ukelele, mandolin and theremin, among others. He graduated from Beachwood High School and Northwestern University with a degree in Television Production. After college Stuart worked as a film producer for the US Information Agency based in Washington, D.C., then went on to a career writing and producing television news for CBS and B.E.T. in Washington D.C. Later in his career, he moved to the Seattle Washington area to work for Microsoft, retiring in 2019.
Stuart’s many avocations included photography, classic cars, collecting vintage typewriters, microphones, radios and watches. Stuart was always glad to volunteer; he helped at the Society of the Blind radio station reading and recording audio books, acted as a hospice companion, and walked dogs at Everett Animal Shelter.
Private services will be held in Everett Washington, and funeral service will be held on Friday, July 24 at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel at 11:30am. Interment will be at Mayfield Cemetery.
