

Susan Dee Kadis, devoted educator and advocate, passed away in Baltimore, Maryland. Born on November 24, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio, she dedicated her life to the service of others, particularly in the field of special education and mental health.
Susan's career was marked by her unwavering commitment to supporting those with disabilities and mental health challenges. She served as a Special Education Teacher before taking on the role of Acting Director of the Office of Consumer Affairs for Maryland Behavioral Health. Her dedication continued as a Coordinator of Special Programs in Health Services and Mental Health where her work positively impacted countless lives.
Her passion for advocacy extended beyond her professional life. Susan was an active member of Disability Rights Maryland's PAIMI Advisory Council and On Our Own Baltimore, organizations that reflect her lifelong commitment to empowering individuals facing challenges.
An alumna of the University of Miami, Susan held a bachelor's degree that laid the foundation for her impactful career. Beyond her professional pursuits, she found joy in knitting and her dogs - beloved pastimes that brought her peace and happiness.
Susan is survived by her loving family: her brothers Larry (Suellen) Kadis and Richard Kadis; her nephews Dan (Shani) Kadis, Justin (Jackie Roberson) Kadis, and Alex (Emily Sparks) Kadis; her nieces Debbie (Daniel) Fishman and Samantha (Jacob) Szabo; and her great-nieces and great-nephews - Lia, Amelia, Spencer, Gabe, Josh, Cameron, and Hugh. Adored daughter of the late Estine and Abe Kadis. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends, who remember her warmth, compassion, and steadfast dedication to those she served.
Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, August 5th, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Zion Memorial Park, 5461 Northfield Rd., Bedford Heights, OH 44146.
Shiva will be held following services at the Beechmont Country Club, 29600 Chagrin Blvd, Orange, OH 44122 until 8 PM.
