So incredibly saddened to hear of Tim's passing.  He was one of my older brother's best friends while growing up in Cleveland and I always worshipped Tim as a kid - he had such charisma and confidence and I always wanted to "be like Tim."  Such an admirable and wonderful person, so so sorry but I'm better having known him.

We just heard about Tim's passing and are so saddened.  So many memories of Tim and Susan moving to NJ and welcoming Morgan when she was born.   Tim was so special and a very loyal friend.   Susan, we send you and Morgan our love and our thoughts are with the entire Curtiss Family.

Tim was an extraordinarily generous man...

Although our interaction was sporadic and somewhat limited, I found that he was always available to be a sounding board for others and to assist in any way that he could...

He was instrumental in helping our fledgling investment firm get an audience with the investment committee at the Laurel School...They eventually became our third client and helped to establish the credibility of our firm...I will always be grateful to Tim for that...We enjoyed several lengthy conversations in the years that followed as we both liked to  discuss various entrepreneurial ventures... 

My thoughts and prayers are with those in his family whose hearts are broken...Many who you do not even know are mourning with you...

May God comfort you as only He can...

Oh, Stoney will be missed terribly. From swimming together on USC, to drives home together from Yale, to his brief stint in Lakewood, I saw many sides of him - quiet, goofy, serious, protective, entrepreneurial, determined.

I am so sorry to hear of Tim's passing.  I had the honor of serving with Tim on the AYA Board of Governors, and can recall with pleasure many conversations with Tim in which he was striving to make his board service the most meaningful it could be.  He was a lovely man, a true mensch. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Tim's death. I got to know him when I was the faculty representative to the Laurel Board of Trustees and liked him immensely. He was truly dedicated to the school and its teachers. My heartfelt condolences to Morgan and all the family.

We are having our own remembrances of Tim (and family) when visiting the Southwest.  A smile comes to my face as I remember an upbeat, fun and warm individual with a tender soul.  This I will miss. I have found some comfort in reading others' remarks and remembrances of Tim, so I'd like to share one anecdote, though it may seem small. Like other former residents of Saybrook College, I couldn't help but know and like "Garch" during our years at Yale. He was always cheerful, funny and kind, not an ounce of pretension in the guy. Other than sharing a residential home in college, we were never particularly close, although my acquaintance with Tim has grown through our Saybrook chat group in the last few years. He always took part in discussions with diplomacy and equanimity, always something positive to say, ready to laugh or to validate someone else's heartfelt ideas. Last January, I sent a column that I wrote to the Saybrook group. In response, Tim asked if I'd ever heard of Regina Brett, a writer in the Cleveland area. Next thing I knew, one of Regina Brett's inspiring essay collections ("Be The Miracle") had arrived in my mailbox. It is a beautiful, uplifting book - I recommend it to anyone seeking comfort. While I didn't get to see Tim that much lately, I still do and always will consider him to be a cherished friend.  Always cheerful.  Always dilligent.  Always caring and willing to listen.  He worked to make the world a better place. He will be missed.  He will always be remembered.

Timothy was my beloved brother-in-law who was also my friend, a wonderful husband to my sister and a supportive and loving father to my niece.  He will be missed every day for the rest of our lives.

The members of the Suicide Prevention Education Alliance community are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Board Chairman, Timothy J Curtiss. Tim was a brilliant man who was kind, generous, thoughtful, compassionate, engaged, fun-loving, creative â€“ and widely loved.  He was an inspiration to all of us â€“ a passionate advocate for depression awareness and suicide prevention, who played a key role in building our organization to save young lives. Tim accomplished more for our community in his short life than most aspire to in a long lifetime. His passion for so many causes will positively impact our community in so many ways for years to come. We are all blessed to have had Tim as a part of our lives. He will be sorely missed.

I was at Saybrook College with Tim.  After struggling, unsuccessfully, to find words worthy of this tragedy, I decided instead to recount a small encounter with Tim that speaks to the way he lived his life.

He contacted me one day, out of the blue â€“ we had been in touch through the Saybrook listserv, but not directly â€“ because he would be in the distant Philadelphia suburbs on business.  We arranged to meet for lunch, which I had thought would be difficult, since that meant he would have to fight heavy traffic to come into the city.  Nonetheless, he did it, and I took him to a traditional Philadelphia lunch (a cheesesteak at Reading Terminal Market), where we caught up in person for some time, more about our families than ourselves.

My point was not the lunch, or the location, or even the pride we both had about our kids.  It was that Tim made it a point to take time out of what was undoubtedly a busy work trip to reconnect with a college classmate, even though it involved a difficult commute from his work location to center city where I work.  Not only did he think nothing of going to that effort, but I thought nothing of it as well, because that was his nature.

I pray that he has found peace, and that the family he loved so much can do the same.
