It is with great joy that we celebrate the life of Barbara “Barb” DelVecchio (née Cooper) after her passing on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, age 87 years, at her home surrounded by her loving family, finally joining her husband of 60 earthly years, Jim, in eternal peace.
Born and raised in Maple Heights, Barb was the matriarchal figure of the DelVecchio-Cooper family. She was the loving sister of Patricia (Pat), Charles(Chuck), MaryAnn, Richard (Ricky), and Gary, and the daughter of Anne and Charles Cooper.
Barb and Jim spent over 50 years raising their family at their home on Carsten Lane in North Olmsted. Together, Jim and Barb welcomed five children into this world: Sharon (Steve Ziska), Jim (Marcy), Connie Stoll (Craig), John (deceased), and Diana Sopko (Mike). She adored her nine grandchildren, Jonathan (Kayla), Emma (Zack), Madeline (Jack), Thomas (Caroline), Alyssa (John), Henry (Camille), Frankie, Annie, and Charlie, and her five great-grandchildren, Hailey, Natalie, Lillian, Kailey, and Chloe.
The majority of Barb’s life centered around her grandkids. She was always present at any event where memories could be made, whether a trip to Cedar Point, a cheerleading or dance competition, or a football game or wrestling match. One of her biggest joys was hosting the family’s annual Christmas Eve party, always with a glass of wine in her hand and always with a guest appearance from Santa.
Barb was a constant in many lives. She loved traditions and brought people together through weekly, monthly, and annual events. In memory of Barb, toast a glass of wine or two and leave a seat at your table in her honor.
Services will be held on August 18, 2026 at St. Clarence Catholic Church in North Olmsted. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass at 11:00. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
