Carmen was married for 33 years to Andres DeJesus, Sr. (+March 31, 1999), and is the mother of Andres DeJesus Jr. (Clarice) and Anthony (+ one day-old in 1967); grandmother of Andrea and Andres III, great-grandmother of Christina; sister of Justo Luis (deceased), Maximo, John (Sylvia), and Esperanza; was also aunt and sister-in law to many.
Born July 11, 1943 in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, to Norberta and Maximo Colon, Carmen relocated to Cleveland, Ohio when she married Andres DeJesus July 2, 1966. She attended Lincoln High School Annex Trade School and became a machinist. After 40+ years of working in her trade, Carmen retired in 2015 at 72, enjoying her home of 40 years and her walks around Ohio City. In 2023 she moved from Ohio City to live with her son. Soon after, Carmen was unexpectedly and very sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease; she remained in the care of her son and daughter-in-law in their home until her passing.
Visitation will be at Craciun Berry Funeral Home, 7200 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, OH, 44102, on Thursday, September 24, from 4pm- 7pm, followed by Catholic prayers at 7pm.
The funeral mass will be Friday, September 25, at 10:30am, at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, 1930 West 54Th St., Cleveland, OH 44102. The morning of the funeral mass please meet at the church. Rite of Committal immediately following Holy Mass will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brook Park Road, Brookpark, OH, Section 41, Lot 643, Grave 3.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests charitable donations to St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, a national historic landmark (use address as above), in the memory of Carmen Julia DeJesus. Thank you and God Bless
