Charles L. Taylor was called from labor to reward on March 23, 2026. The Giver of Life has just received His loved one unto Himself, after He had woven such a beautiful tapestry of both joy and happiness during his sojourn here.
Charles, better known as “Charlie,” was born in San Francisco, California on November 24, 1969, to Yvonne and Charles L. Taylor, Sr.
After the passing of his loving mother, Charlie was under the nurturing care of his devoted brother, Percy David Mitchell. When Percy went home to be with the Lord, Charlie was blessed to find comfort and care under the guidance of Pastor Justine and Elder W. Lockwood of Messiah Ministries, as well as his loving church family.
From his birth, Charlie overcame challenges. He lived the phrase coined by Barack Obama: “Yes we can!” And he did! His mother was told by a medical professional that he would never walk or talk, but Charlie defied the odds! He walked, he talked, he socialized, and he was employed. God is truly Good!
In his younger years, he loved the TV program, “The Price Is Right.” When it was on, that was his “down-time” for sure and his special time was respected! And he loved peach cobbler. His mother would make his special cobbler and he could not wait to dive in. Charlie would be in pie heaven! He also loved working in the garden and attending various events.
His precious mother had physical limitations and sometimes needed assistance. She would call upon her wonderful son and he would willingly help her with washing, cleaning etc. Charlie was even blessed in later years to have an art exhibition in Cleveland’s downtown Terminal Tower. This was just one of his many talents!
Safe in the arms of Jesus, angels guard his sleeping clay, we are working and trusting to see him again in Glory one day. The world has lost a fine and noble soul, loving and kind. A beautiful memory of Charlie has been left behind.
He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Charlie was preceeded in death by his father, Charles L. Taylor Sr, his mother, Yvonne- Pickett- Mitchell- Taylor, and his brother, Percy David Mitchell. He leaves behind to cherish his memory many relatives, his church family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Messiah Ministries COGIC (inside Glenville Church), 9009 Wade Park, Cleveland, OH 44106, on April 12, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
