I regret not seeing Dan for a few years, but he will remain one of the kindest and most stand-up humans that I've ever met. I'll never forget showing up to a BBQ and finding that Dan had gone out of his way to purchase and prepare food that fit my dietary/ religious needs without me ever asking. He just manned that grill as he does and nonchalantly informed me, as if showing that type of consideration and care was something everybody would do. That couldn't be further from the truth. Dan is special and will forever remain special. I hope to always honor his memory and will never forget all of the convos and laughs. Sending love to his family.

Sharing a picture from one of our first times camping together because it sums up the kind of friend Dan was - fun, funny, and easy-going. I'll miss you.

If I could have selected someone for a sibling, it would be Dan. He and Jeff were always willing to help me and Matt anytime we needed help or just needed company for fun times. Mrs. Hapiak graciously opened her home to our dogs so many times in the past years and I am pretty sure this was just because Dan enjoyed watching them and/or because he just showed up with a load of Bumpus hounds and she couldn't say no. I am incredibly sad and our crew will forever be one short. May Dan's memory be eternal.

Dear Hapiak Family,

I was very saddened to learn of Dan's death. It still doesn't seem real. He was one of the nicest young men I've worked with and my fondest memories were harassing him about finishing his undergrad degree. I guess time slipped by me and I hadn't realized he completed it and just learned a little over a week ago that he was taking summer classes towards his Masters degree. I am proud of his accomplishment and glad the harassment worked! LOL. I am sure you all are equally proud.

Thank you for sharing Dan with us (CSU community). His presence will be missed. God Bless you all.

There are no words to express how utterly devastated I am at the loss of my friend Dan. We have been friends many years while working at Cleveland State. I will treasure all of the many camping trips that I was blessed to be a part of with Dan and our friends, and those memories will live with me forever. My heart goes out to all of Dan's family. He was one of the most gentle, kind, and accepting friends I have ever had in my life. I will never ever forget him and will hold tight to the memories of our friendship. Dan is, without a doubt, a truly stand-up guy who will be missed by all.
