Derrick Roberts, affectionally known as Dae Dae, son of the late Mary
Louise Roberts and Cornelius Eddie McClain was born on December 21,
1971 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a graduate of Glenville High School and
a lifelong fan.
He played football for the school and routinely followed the team and had
a camaraderie with the players and coaches. He later moved to Georgia
where he continued to work / coach youth in the community and watched
his children participate in sports. To the surprise of many, Dae Dae was a
big University of Michigan fan, which led to numerous discussions living
in Ohio. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with
family and friends. Everyone loved the famous barbeque and sauce he made
for family functions.
Derrick quietly departed on November 13, 2022 surrounded by his loving
family. He will forever be cherished by his sons: Diamonte Harper, Derrick
Mattox, DeShaun Roberts; daughter Emmani Roberts; granddaughter
Nayla Harper; sisters: Vada Mack and Leslie Claytor; brothers: Duane
Roberts, Dana Roberts and Lamarr Roberts are deceased. Derrick also
leaves behind nieces Christen Newson, and Amanda Mack-Rashid;
nephew Kayin Claytor; great-nephew A'myus Shabazz and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. The family would like
to extend recognition to the Young / Robertson families for all of their love
and support.
