Dorothy “Big Dot” Flemister was born on June 23, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to AD and Velma (Williams) Flemister.
Aunt “Boo Boo” as she was affectionately called, loved to play cards with her family and talking smack as we called it. She had a passion for being the ultimate hostess. She always had a bible quote and scripture for those that came in her house. Her favorite scriptures were Psalm 23 and 91. For those who came in as strangers to her house they left as family. Dorothy never married or had any children; however, she was the epitome of a virtuous woman. She embodied Proverbs 31:10-31. She has loved and raised generations of Flemisters’.
Dorothy would tell this story often on how she prayed for a new purpose in her life to keep her home and on the right path. Never did the 28-year-old at the time knew that God was bringing her an answer in the form of her brother Joe’s daughter Kim who was 1 year old at the time. From there she went on to help care for her other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She also took care of her parents AD and Velma and brother James until their deaths.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, mother, five brothers, two sisters, aunt, uncles and one niece. Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memories her daughter (niece by name only) Kimberly J. Flemister Spratt, her grandsons (great nephews) Richard Spratt Jr (RJ), Malcolm J. Spratt (Mojo), her brothers Bill Lee Flemister, Ralph Flemister Sr., one sister Ella Stella Flemister and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
