Ernest Lee Troy (aka Ernie, or ET by the bowling community) was born on September 8, 1957, to Freckus and Louise Troy in Jamaica, New York. He was the second of five children of that union.
Ernest was a graduate of the New York City School System. He worked at Jeans West as a Manager while attending New York's Community College. He was transferred to Cleveland, Ohio to become a Manager at its Cleveland Heights store. After a few years of working at Jeans West in Cleveland Heights, Ernest started his employment with the Ohio Regional Sewer District, and was employed with that company for over 20 years. Ernest became sick and was forced to retire on disability because of his illness.
Ernest was married four times. his wives were (Debra, Linda, Karine and Penny (who earned her wings). Those unions resulted in the blessings of his daughter Sharifah (Debra), son Brandon (Linda), stepdaughter Kiera (Karine), and Stepson Anthony Lewis (Penny).
Ernest had many talents. He played the drums and guitar. He was a tremendous bowler, which is how he got his nickname ''ET". He is responsible for his son, Brandon, being the awesome bowler that he is. He loved to play bid wiz at Vel's Party Center every Thursday before its closing. Also, He and his bidwiz partners won a few tournaments a few years ago. He loved to ballroom dance, and even after his illness, he still danced. Ernest loved his church (Emmanuel Baptist Church) and its members. He was always ready and willing to help out when needed. Every Sunday, he would record the church services and programs on Facebook.
Ernest loved his family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother (Freckus and Louise Troy); his brother (Freckus) and his sister (Wanda). He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish memories: brother Kenny (wife Shirley), brother Anthony; daughter Sharifah; son Brandon (wife Monica); niece Takeima Nicole-Miller, stepdaughter Kiera; stepson Anthony Lewis; and his grandchildren (Moneshae Troi Bailey, Jaquay Cruz and Jaceyko Ost). Also in mourning is his Michigan family: father and mother in-law, David Smith Sr. and Mary F. Smith; God in-laws, Curtis and Rosalyn Marshall; and a host of family and friends of New York, Cleveland and Michigan.
